Christopher N. Koontz, LCSW, CAMS-II
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve had big questions about life, the human mind, and the universe! That curiosity led me to earn a BA in philosophy from MTSU. I wasn’t really interested in the weird philosophical questions like whether chairs exist (yes - philosophy is weird), but I loved the practical life advice offered by the ancient schools like the Stoics. They asked the real questions: “How do I live a good life?” “How can I be a good man?” “How do I deal with the troubles life throws at me?” “How can I control my emotions?”
That’s when I realized, there are a lot of folks out there looking for their own answers and I wanted to help them! So, I moved to Knoxville and earned my MSSW (Master of Science in Social Work) from UT. I spent a year with CASA advocating in court for kids who had been neglected or abused. Later, I joined Ridgeview Mobile Crisis where I helped clients thinking about suicide or homicide. I remained there for 7 years, rising from an internship to a leadership role. After earning my LCSW and becoming a CAMS-II (certified anger management specialist), I decided to open a private practice in Knoxville.
My dream is to help as many Tennesseans as possible answer their own important life-questions and to help them address whatever issues they feel hold them back from living their best life.
